RHYTHM //
I’m going to go ahead and be brutally honest about this one. This is the last prompt for the @hopewriters writing challenge. And I stared at the word rhythm until it didn’t even look like a word anymore. I had zip to write about. Because, my life has been nothing short of a symphony of chaos lately.
I have not been using my carefully crafted cleaning charts on the wall of my kitchen. I have been distracted during my planning period at work. I haven’t been keeping myself or my family on a well-thought-out routine. We’re kind of just running with whatever happens.
This is not like me. I am a list-maker, a planner-user, a write-every-meal-for-the-week-er. I do not thrive in chaos. But my best ideas come amongst all the buzzing in my life. So, today’s writing is a prayer. A prayer for order, for a rhythm, a routine, and the diligence to carry it out.

Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you today as your humble, overwhelmed, not-very-disciplined daughter. You are the creator of all things. You are my priority above all. You know my heart before I even speak, and you have seen my cacophonous life. Please give me the wisdom and discernment I need to make plans, the grace I need to be flexible, and the discipline to make a plan and stay organized. Help me to find a rhythm that works for my family, and the diligence to carry it out. I need you to create sustainable rhythms, boundaries, and commitments. You are the author of all. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
